Blocks and muffins...

I think my kids are hilarious! Hannah climbed into this bucket that holds blocks and a wooden train track and just sat.
Until she couldn't get out and was frustrated.
Richard helped me make muffins last night. He likes for me to turn on the oven light so he can watch them bake. I walked into the kitchen and saw that he had his stool pulled right up and was waiting to eat the yummy muffins. What silly kids!

Parade time...

Lehi Round-up was this weekend. My brother's family was all in the parade. First up is this beautiful girl, Brittany. She is on the Lehi cheer squad and does a great job!
Heidi (in the front, brown shirt) and Chloe (behind Heidi, next to the girl in the white had) were dancing in front of their ward's float. They danced to Footloose and did a awesome!
My rock star Rocky helped pull the float. (red shirt)
Bo (little one in the front) and Riley (sitting with the candy) got to ride on the float. Riley was nice enough to throw Richard personally some gum. What a nice cousin! We love all of you guys and you each did great. They are such handsome guys!
I'm so sorry, but I didn't see Bryce. You rock, too, bud! We love ya tons!

Target practice...

Richard mad this gun with Legos and practiced target shooting. I thought he did a great job!

And this is the target he used.

Chelsie and Mark - Hip Hop

This was a great week! I enjoyed most all of the dances, but this smooth hip-hop routine takes the cake. Chelsie and Mark had such great energy, emotion, and passion. The choreography and music were perfect!

Favorite dance from week 2

Twitch and Kherington - Viennese Waltz

This was such a beautiful dance! I love the story behind the choreography, that his daughter is handicapped but loves to watch movement. I know this touched me, I'm sure it touched her, too.

SYTYCD4 - Travis Wall as Danielle Chorizo - Audition

This was hilarious! He is an incredible dancer, even as a woman!

My favorite dance from week 1

SYTYCD - Mark and Chelsie - Top 20 Contemporary

Dari, I'm stealing your idea. Thanks! :) Mia Michaels is so odd, quarky and amazing. Some of my favorite dances from each year have been hers. This was an amazing dance. And Chelsie is one of our Utah kids!!!

My little angel...

I am blessed enough to have 2 angels! But today I'm going to talk about my little Richard. Every night before bed Richard asks me to say prayers. If I ever forget, he calls to me to remind me. Once in a while he will say them himself, he is really good at it. He will even say Hannah's for her.
Well, yesterday I was really sick! I'll spare the details, but trust me. So, I got up to get the kids some breakfast and told Richard I was really sick and that I had to go lie down. He said, "Mom, let's say a prayer." I thought that was so cute. So we folded our arms and Richard proceeded: "Heabenly Pader...bless Mommy to peel better. (then he gets a little chocked up) And bless Daddy to peel better. Jesus Christ, Amen." (Chris has laryngitis and has been sick, too.)
I just thought that was the sweetest thing. He thought of it and said the prayer all by himself. What a sweet and faithful boy! I love my kids so very much! I am truly blessed!

Gardening and popsicles

The kids were outside with me while I did some yard work and pulled weeds from our garden tonight. They love being outside! Hannah was filthy from grass, weeds and dirt! Our corn is growing so quickly. Each day it seems to have grown inches. I asked Richard to stand by it so we could see how tall it is.
It was lucky that I grabbed this shot. What a card!
When we were finished, we all sat in our camping chairs and enjoyed Popsicles. Hannah scooted herself into this position and I couldn't resist taking photos!!!
I love the leg on this shot! :)
Just chillin' with my Popsicle! Look at that filthy left leg! Ha ha!

Richard decided to share his Popsicle with her. What a good brother!

A day at the zoo...

I decided to take the kids to the zoo today. We had a lot of fun, but it was HOT!
Here are the kids on the sculpture of an elephant, as you can see, Hannah was not too fond of this elephant. (He made noises and sprayed water from his trunk.)
Then we went on the carousel. Richard chose the ladybug.
Hannah wanted the cheetah. She kept saying "Eeee! Eeee!" meaning whee!
Then Richard decided to change to the log with snake, that's just for you, Mom.
The bird show was really neat. There are some beautiful birds out there.

This owl was staring right at me, and I was the closest person to it. Pretty intense!
I loved the real tiger, but Richard preferred the bronzed ones. :)
And we ended the day on the train. A bison charged the train while we were on it, I thought it was going to run right into Richard, but we missed it. Whew!
It was a fun day, the kids were so tired by the time we left, though. Hannah had missed a nap or two and Richard walked around the whole 4-5 hours with me. And bonus!!! He told me he had to poop in the pot and did, all by himself. That is so great!!! :)

Movie Review...P.S. I love you

This was a great movie! Total tear jerker, I cried throughout! It was such a sad and tragic story laced with hope, mild humor, and romance. I couldn't help but think of myself and Chris, maybe that is why I cried so much and so hard. I think if I lost him I would act much like Holly did: not wanting to move on with life, but then I would be reminded of the woman I became with living with and loving Chris and would hopefully find inspiration and hope to move on and live, learn, laugh, and love. (Wow! Where did that come from?!)
Back to the movie, I thought it moved a bit slow from time to time, but for the story to progress the way it did, I'm sure that had to happen. I did fall in love with the characters played by Gerard Butler, Harry Connick, Jr., and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Hilary Swank did a really great job, as did Kathy Bates. This was a beautiful, moving story. I want to read the book as so as I can get around to finishing "The Host." :)

Movie Review...Juno

There has been a lot of hype about this movie, and yes, I usually wait until a movie it at Red Box before I see it so I'm a little behind the rest of the world. :) Anyway, I thought I would rent it Saturday. It was quirky and had a bit different vibe than I am used to, but I thought it was a good story. It's hard to see a teenager going through a pregnancy and trying to find adoptive parents, even though it was just a story. I thought Ellen Page was brilliant! She didn't over do the character at all. I thought it was really well done. And I'm not used to Jennifer Garner playing so uptight and prissy, but she did a great job. I wanted to hate her character, but had to realize she was just wanting a baby of her own. Well done!

Hannah and her pineapple

Hannah loves her fresh pineapple. She started off licking it because she wasn't sure she wanted it, but then she dove right in! :)

All in a day's (or two) work...

Most of these activities occurred Friday, and the last one, today. Mom took the day off work and brought Grandma T. up for lunch at the park. The kids played for a bit, until we all got too hot! But it was fun, the kids love their Grandma Kia.

Later that day, I was getting Richard dressed for bed, or something, and came out to find that Hannah had thrown around to be recycled newspaper and was getting into her Dad's cough drops. When I put my hands on my hips and gave her "the look" she just smiled as big, sweet and innocent as can be.
Then, I ran downstairs to get a cord to put a movie on in the kids' room when I heard Richard calling for me. I told him I would be right up then I heard a thud, thud, thud. I ran to him and he was almost on the bottom step with his feet over his head. We don't have a finished basement and the stairs are bare wood. He banged up his head and ear pretty badly. We got him cleaned up and put a couple of band aids on.
Then the kids pretended to camp out in their sleeping bags, in their room. They had a lot of fun.

This afternoon Richard put on the new backpack Grandma Kia gave him yesterday and said he was going to school. I set up this table for him back in the shade. He spent a little time out there and had fun. The sandbox was his "playground." He had fun coloring and cutting up some paper.

I think we have done it...

I asked Richard this week why he had gone poop in the potty for Gordon (Chris's cousin) but not for me. I asked if he liked Gordon better. Richard said yes so I forced a tear or two. I put a pretzel in the toilet and told him to aim. That worked. I have tried EVERYTHING else, but the combo of guilt and the target worked. He has had a couple of accidents this week, too, but today he went in the toilet twice!!!
He was playing out back then came in to tell me he had pooped outside. I checked his pants, but they were clean. Then it dawned on me, he pooped on the lawn! AAAAAAHH! I tried to not freak out to him, I don't want to scare him into pooping his pants again. I just calmly asked him where it was and told him that if he was outside and needed to poop to just come in and use the potty. I have to say, it was pretty funny!

Since Gordon welcomed Richard into the Big Boys Poo Club, I told Richard he would get his membership card, and keep it, only if he goes in the potty. We got it printed off today and he put it in his wallet, he thinks it's pretty cool!

Movie Review...Fool's Gold

At the opposite end of the spectrum was this adventurous romantic comedy. I love Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, and they are even better together! Their first movie, "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" is one of my favorite fun films and this will be on that list, too. It made me want to get a boat and live on the ocean and look for treasure. :) I thought there was great chemistry with the whole cast.

Movie Review...Elizabeth: The Golden Age

I am not one that gets thrills from many movies set in this era; however, I loved this movie. It captured me right away and there were a few twists and turns just when I thought I knew what was going to happen. I thought Cate Blanchett did a phenomenal job! She was powerful and vulnerable and I can't imagine the work that went into that part. Clive Owen (Sir Walter Raleigh) was perfect for this part, so charming and a great acting job! The costumes and wigs were amazing, beautiful. I highly recommend this stunning movie.

Talking to Aunt Heidi

Hi Heidi!

Richard likes pretending to talk on the phone. This morning he decided to call his Aunt Heidi. I love that he is using the headset and the handset. What a funny pooh bear! (A video will soon follow)

I'm officially a soccer mom...

Richard started soccer tonight. The class he is in just learns the basics and the last 2 weeks they have a few scrimmages. But I think he had fun and was able to meet some new friends.

The teacher made sure all the kids did stretches at the beginning of class.

They had to stand by cones each time she taught them something new. Richard had to have 2 cones and he stood right on them. The teacher told me that she has never had anyone stand right on them before. She thought it was pretty funny.
