Table runners and spring decor

My kids have enjoyed my Valentine's table runner so much that they asked for their own. It costs about $5-6 and takes about 10 minutes. It's so easy and cute. This is Hannah's...

Richard's...

And my new spring one...

This wreath is my new pride and joy. I fell in love with it on Pinterest several weeks ago and finally allowed myself to make it. I cannot wait any longer to put it up so the Valentine's decor came down yesterday and I put these up.

I adore this as well. Although I need a course in proper spray painting technique, I still love 'em!

This is just something fun I did with a thrift store frame. Not lovin' it, but it's kind of cute.

Of course the kids need to get in on the photography and take a photo of each other. Here is Hannah debuting her new 'do.

Update to Richard's desk

Richard was feeling left out since Hannah and I have fun papers mod podged on our desk drawers. I let him pick out the paper and we got to work. Like a dummy, I cut the paper the wrong way. Richard did not want to wait for another trip to the craft store so we put it on sideways. It still looks pretty good and he is happy so that is what matters.

Pinewood Derby

Last week Richard's pack had it's pinewood derby. Richard and Chris put the car together and Richard called it the Amazing Bumblebee (top left corner in above photo, yellow with black stripes). He won 3 of his 4 heats and came in second on the forth. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Valentine's Day Mystery Dinner

Our friends from Arkansas did this with their kids last year and I thought I would do it this year. The kids were banned from the kitchen end of the house while preparations were made. They were also required to dress fancy for the occasion. As they entered the restaurant this is what they saw...

The kids were presented with menus, but the names of the items were mixed up in love/Valentine names. The kids had no idea what they were ordering which made it fun. Hannah's first course consisted of soda, meatballs, and carrots (not bad) and Richard's was soda, strawberry jam, and pasta sauce (totally funny!) They kept asking for forks or spoons, but they had ordered those in other courses. Eventually they had all they needed to enjoy a lovely meal. It was a lot of fun and they both want to do it again tonight. But I think I will wait for another special occasion.

Sledding

This weekend we stole some time to finally have a family activity. We grabbed some delicious KFC and headed to the reservoir for a picnic by a campfire. I grabbed the sled for the kids to pull each other around and then they found this fun, weed-filled hill. We spent 20-30 minutes on this hill, I took 119 pictures, and then we found a more daring hill which ended on the iced-over reservoir. I did not get any pictures over there as I was more worried about stopping the kids before they went too far onto the ice (even though it was about 12 inches think, I am still a worried mommy). But it was so much fun. Here are some of the highlights.

Chariot Races

Richard had chariot races for scouts this weekend. One scout sits in the chariot while four others pull them through a maze racing against another team. It was a lot of fun and Richard really enjoyed it.
