Father's Day 2012

Chris planned an elaborate nad wonderful meal for his dad for father's day. We started the meal with a grapefruit and citrus drink; homemade onion, garlic, and rosemary bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar...

...thinly sliced bagette bread and homemade "farm" cheese drizzled in olive oil and cracked black pepper.

Next we had a lovely mixed greens salad with roasted beets, white grapes, and lemon vinegrette.

Next we a chilled potato and leek soup garnished with lobster, scallop, sweet potato puree, and parsley.

We cleansed our palettes with lemon and raspberry sorbet (this was a favorite of the kids).

The main entree was roasted venison tenderloin, roasted chicken, ratatouille, and butternut squash/parsnip puree.

Creme brulee was the desert.

Everything was so delicious and we had a great time making it and enjoying it with family.

East Canyon

As many of you know, we LOVE summer. We enjoy the sun, the warmth, and we LOVE going to the water. Chris gets to fish and the kids can join or play in the water. I had my Kindle with me this day so I was able to relax and read on the beach.

 I ADORE my beautiful girl!

And this mysterious guy just makes me laugh, LOVE him!

I think it is awesome that Hannah is so beautiful and girly, but she still can get muddy and have fun. That mud dripping off of her arm is great!

Richard is always making great inventions with "treasure" he finds on the water's edge. I think it is so cool that this fishing line and it's water droplets were captured.

We had a really fun time together. Chris got a few bites, but the fishies got away :(

This is the Place Heritage Park

A couple of weeks ago This is the Place Heritage Park had free admission and ice-cream day, so the kids and I went. We got to ride on the trains and have a lot of fun adventures

Hannah and I had a horse race, Richard was shy so he was the photographer.

Then we got to walk through one of Brigham Young's houses, though he never lived here some of his wives and children did. In the backyard we were treated to our ice-cream.

As we walked around "town" we found the pony rides. Hannah was all for it while Richard was being shy again (not sure what was going on that day with him).

This is the Huntsman Hotel. There is a cafe on the main floor.

The kids were really excited to pan for gold. Once they found two nuggets they could take them to the bank and trade them in for a piece of candy. I think this was once of their highlights.

I get laughs from them about this picture, but I think it is so darn cute!

Our last adventure of the day was on this miniature train which overlooks the Salt Lake Valley. They are so cute with each other and have a lot of fun together.

By the time we left we were all sweaty and tired. I think that they both fell asleep on the way home. But we had a great day.

Utah Lake

Chris has been aching to go fishing so as soon as he was able to buy his license we were at the lake. We discovered Utah Lake and the kids had fun in the water, rocks, and dirt.

Slip-n-slide

So I found this Slip-n-slide at Ross Dress for Less for pretty cheap so I bought it for the kids since it is 90 degress today. We immediately put it up and they have been having fun for hours, even during a brief rain storm. They are getting very creative and brave with their stunts. It's been really fun.

Zoo Day!

Hannah and I met Richard's class at the zoo today for a fun field trip. We got a special treat when Richard was able to separate from his group and hang out with us the whole time. Then we got to take him home instead of going on the bus back to school for 10 minutes, so...we stayed a couple of extra hours.

It was a lot of fun to see the changes and new animals the zoo had to offer this year.
