Pre-Halloween...

Richard has been driving me crazy about wearing his Halloween costume. Well, he has worn it so much and pretends to be Spiderman every time that the seams are coming apart. I have hidden it until Halloween. But he still wants to dress-up so I pulled out our bin of old costumes. He had a lot of fun trying them on. Hannah even got to wear a tutu. (She was asleep most of the time Richard was doing this.)

Richard was one of the Incredibles 2 years ago, then he put his pirate pants from 3 years ago over the other costume. I can't believe we were able to squeeze them on!

It was so much fun watching him play and discover these different characters. He had me laughing pretty good.

Laundry day...

The kids decided to play in my pile of laundry I'm working on folding and putting away. They found my funny winter hat and modeled it for me. Then Richard decided to lie on top of my laundry pile.

New bike for Richard...

Richard has had a hard time learning on his old bike so Chris took him to Wally world last night to buy this great new bike. It is so much easier for him to pedal. But wouldn't you know it, it is raining today. Luckily we have a covered patio!

Best cookies ever...

My Grandma Bunker used to always have banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies around the house and we all loved them. Now that she is gone, they remind me of her. Well, we had some bananas going bad and I decided to make them. Richard helped out and Hannah watched on while we did. They had fun and enjoy the cookies, but not near as much as I do.

When we make cookies Richard likes to watch them bake. So I turn the oven light on and he grabs his stool.
Hannah just hung out watching us. She is getting so funny!
If you would like to try these tasty treats here is the recipe:

2-3 over ripe bananas

3/4 cup butter/margarine

1 egg

1 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp nutmeg

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1 1/2 cups flour

2 cups oats

1-2 cups chocolate chips

Mix together well, bake in 4oo degree oven for 10-12 minutes.

They are best enjoyed with milk! (And I heard recently that milk helps the body absorb the nutrients in oatmeal so it becomes a semi-healthy snack.)

They are also amazing frozen, just give it a try! :)

Another funny story...

The kids and I went to the gym today. Richard hasn't been in a while since I normally go when he is in school. Well, I park as far from the building as I can, for a little more exercise and to protect my new car (I park in 2 spots). Anyway, we were walking on the crosswalk toward the building and Richard was jumping over the white lines and the tar-filled cracks. Three-fourths of the way to the gym Richard said,

"Whew, my knees need a nap from all this jumping."

I don't know where he comes up with all this stuff, but he is so funny!

The funniest story ever...

On the way to Richard's school today, we saw that a neighbor had cut a tree down. Richard asked why they did that. I told them that maybe the tree died and they were getting rid of it. He innocently asked how trees die. I explained that sometimes they get bugs in them that kill them, and explained like our corn plants died from too many bugs. I said that they also sometimes get diseases. That my Dad died of cancer, a type of DISEASE.


Richard matter of factly said, "When I dance I get DIZZY. But I don't get sick, just dizzy." It was all I could do to not laugh so hard. That is the cutest, funniest thing I have ever heard!!! Now I'll have to explain that I was talking about DISEASE, not being DIZZY. What a fun, entertaining boy. He always keeps us on our toes!

Spiderman...

Chris had to stop home to pick something up this afternoon. Well, I was cleaning behind our tv unit and was involved, but Chris came in a told me a cute story.


Richard got new Spiderman shoes today, as we have lost ONE of his others and it is no where to be found. Well, he showed Chris his shoes and went about playing. Richard overheard Chris tell Hannah, "I'm gonna get you, Hannah! Rrraaaaargh!"


Richard ran in from the other room and said, "Hannah's in trouble, I need to help her." Then with his hand on his hips said, "Spiderman here." And he saved her from the scary Daddy monster. I thought that was so funny and wish that I was able to see it. ")

A day to relax...

Chris and I have been so busy lately that I wanted to spend some fun time with the kids. After Richard's school on Wednesday I took them to Nickelcade. Wednesdays are free admission and then you just have nickels to play the games and ride the rides. They had so much fun.

Ride 'em cowgirl...she went 8 seconds and won!
Richard did really well at skee-ball. And Hannah liked to throw the balls to the ground and climb on the machine. They were so funny!

Here they are racing. Believe it or not, Hannah won the race. Richard was in 3rd gear while Hannah was in 4th, my bad. But they both had fun and didn't really get the whole win/lose thing.
I love this of Hannah riding the horse! I thought she was going to fly off it, but she held on nice and tight!

All in all, we had a fun time and it was nice to have a break from our crazy schedule! Although, with his 95 tickets, he had more but shared with Hannah, Richard decided on a peanut butter cup. I tried to get him to get a toy but he just wanted the chocolate and peanut butter. :)

My little grape ape...

I had given Hannah a bowl of grapes to pick from. I turned back around and saw that she had pulled them out and was biting them right off the vine. What a funny baby girl. I love her!

The Haircut...

Richard does not like his hair cut, but Chris bribed him with chocolate and to let Richard cut Chris's hair. Well, he was a really good boy and Chris did a great job! Richard's favorite part was being able to take a shower, not a bath, afterward. He loves to shower!

Good little eater...

After eating her breakfast yesterday Hannah flipped her bowl over, climbed on the table, and began eating the remnants of Richard's yogurt.


Hannah totally out-eats Richard. Lately it's been a battle to get Richard to eat almost anything. I can't believe he isn't starving! We have tried almost everything. And the foods he used to love eating he no longer has interest in. Even crabby patties (hamburgers), pasta, chicken, and some of his favorite veggies. He has been eating a few bites of yogurt, cottage cheese on a potato, cucumbers, green peppers, and eggs. So at least the things he is eating are pretty good for him.


The other night Chris made chicken and Richard refused to eat. After a while of debate Chris finally made trout he had caught and Richard ate it all. So, I hope he passes this phase soon. He hasn't been losing weight and hasn't been ill, just some stomach aches from not eating. I've tried everything. I think he is just having a hard time getting used to going to school AND having Mommy work nights. These changes came the same day and I know that it is a big difference from his previous schedule. So, like I said, I hope this passes.

A puppy and Spiderman...

Chris took these videos of the kids last night. Hannah is pretending to be a puppy and Richard, of course is Spiderman.

Halloween preview...

I bought Richard's Halloween costume yesterday and he wore it the rest of the day. He loves to pretend that he is Spiderman and now he looks like Spiderman, too.


When Hannah first saw him she was scared and started to cry. Richard pulled off his hat and mask and in the tiniest voice said to her, "It's just me, Richard. I'm wearing my Spiderman costume. Don't be scared, it's just me." He'd get on his knees and slowly crawl up to her to show that it was just him. Then Hannah wasn't scared. It was so cute of him and how he handled her being afraid. What a great brother! And what a cute Spiderman!!!

Game time with Grandma...

Bryce and Donnell came over Sunday night for dinner. Richard got Donnell to play Chutes and Ladders with him. Hannah wanted so badly to be a part of the action so I sat her at the table by them with some extra pieces. Then she was happy they had a lot of fun.

Shoes and socks...

Hannah is only 16 months old, but she LOVES shoes. That's my girl! But if she doesn't have any on, she will go find some, bring them to me and have me put them on her feet. She also loves to wear Richard's shoes. The other night she was putting them on over and over.

Even when Hannah was not even a year, I tried shoes on her at the store and she moved her feet around to look at the shoes like she was checking them out. It was so funny.

Quite a few months ago I made Richard a sock puppet. Well, Hannah wanted it today, too, so I made her one. These are just some fun pics of them playing with the sock puppets.
And of course, Hannah holding her purse. She has recently discovered bags, backpacks and purses. :)
