A little adventure

We started off the day going to Smith & Edward's Country Store to find new camouflage for Chris and the kids. Then we went up the mountain to have an adventure. This is what happened on our hike.

I LOVE that Ella is even smiling!

Richard and Hannah were getting restless so I had them race. This started a whole "military games" sequence. Each time one of them would win a race or obstacle he or she would get a rank advancement. Hannah won all of the running races so Chris got creative with some of the challenges.

Richard was so upset that Hannah was outrunning him (she is really fast and competitive) that he doubled over to cry. Shortly after this picture he got the motivation to complete the task...

...and he did. I was proud of him overcoming his being upset to finish what he started.

Here they are patiently and excitedly listening to the next instructions. (Notice little Richard's dirty tear stains.)

An endurance challenge was dragging a log as long as they could. They both did great.

Then finally, they had to carry these rocks back to the truck. They even had a few 10-second increments when they had to carry the rocks over their heads.

It was a lot of fun to watch these two push themselves and rise to the challenges. They are good kids and I love them very much!
