First Day of !st Grade

My little Tiger started first grade today. I am so proud of him, he did a terrific job being confident and even made friends on the playground before school started. He is going to have a great year. Though Hannah is really sad he is gone. She and I will have some special time this year.

Family Time at Park Lake

Chris has been working such long hours 6-7 days a week that we try taking advantage of every minute we have with him. Saturday night we grabbed a pizza and hauled up to the lake for about an hour of sunlight. We played in the water and hiked a little.

Chris took the day off on Monday so we left early to go to the lake. We had a delicious picnic (chicken salad sandwiches, pasta salad, and roasted potatoes with carrots) and hiked all the way around the lake. We saw hundreds of baby frogs (I didn't have my camera as it was raining on the hike) and we had a lot of fun. It was a day we all needed, to be together.

Learning to sew

I am no seamstress, but I have done needlepoint for as long as I can remember. Button and hems are no problem. I am wanting to be more creative now that I only have one class at a time and have a little more time on my hands. The kids are fascinated when I fix a stitch on a stuffed animal or costume so we decided to let them make their own sewing kits and learn a little about it.

Here are the finished products...cute little sewing pouches.

The kids did most of the side stitching themselves and I added the button. Not bad! They are so proud of their first little projects. I am proud of them for learning.

1st Grade Open House

Richard got to meet his teacher on Thursday night. He was really excited, though shy, and is happy to be starting 1st grade on Tuesday. Here he is sorting his supplies that he was able to bring. I am happy that he is happy and was able to meet new friends. This is going to be a good year!

And of course, we couldn't take pictures without getting one of the pretty little Hannah girl!

The little family

These two kiddies love playing with Dora and house is one of their favorite imagination games. They asked for a family portrait with Dancing and Fairy. Too cute!

Park Lake

Park Lake is our new favorite family spot. It is close, which is great since Chris is working so many days and such long hours, and beautiful. The kids enjoy the adventures they have at the lake and we usually take a picnic, or at least hot dogs to roast.

Richard put this tree into the lake even though I had told him numerous times not to. So he had to get in the water to fish the tree out. Richard jumped for the tree and was in the water up to his neck. (I would have taken pictures but he was in trouble and I didn't want to glorify his disobedience.

But I had no problem getting a picture of his clothes drying and his make-shift outfit.

Spring Water

We were directed to this natural spring for fresh water. It is wonderful! We will be making a few trips up there to fill up on refreshing delight. (I still think my Grandpa's property has the BEST water anywhere!)

Full Moon & Sunset

This full moon was out our front door the other day...

...and this sunset was out the back door.

Hannah Montana Time...

Hannah got this fun new wig so we tried it out...and it was a lot of fun!
